Inspired by a conversation with one of our favorite designers, Courtney Giles Decker, about her use of cork wallcovering in a current project, we went on our own mini-search for photos of this environmentally friendly, decidedly funky design element. First stop? The master of wallcoverings: Phillip Jeffries Ltd.
From their site...Organic meets luxury in the collection Java Cork. Harvested from authentic cork bark, the collection is available in two styles - cork in its natural state and cork that is heated to achieve a rich, chocolate brown. These corks are then sliced into squares and laminated by hand onto a selection of backing papers from metallic silver, gold and copper foils to jet black, creating 3-dimensional play on texture. The above color way, Natural/Black Japanese, looks like it could be straight from nature, no?
Love the contrast of traditional antique pieces against a natural cork wall
This hallway takes rustic glam to a whole new level with its killer light fixture and three-dimensional cork WP
Angles upon angles in this bright living space. So many fabulous elements in this room-table, hair on hide pillows and a statement globe light fixture!
Miles Redd-does it get any more chic?
What about y'all...cork-love it or leave it?
