I "heart" Cashmere

I LOVE cashmere. All things cashmere. Pillows, throws, PJ's, sweaters - you name it. This cashmere pillow at Gumps would be perfect in a child's room or a whimsical office. Also, we just got the greatest 100% cashmere throws in the shop from Pur Cashmere. Can you think of a more luxurious gift for your loved ones (or yourself)? I adore the vibrant colors in the resort collection shown below:
The Pur Cashmere throws come in a wide variety of colors and look great with an embroidered monogram. I think Gumps did a great job shooting a variety of hues and highlighting the importance of a monogram.
While cashmere is a great home accent fabric - it's even better when worn against your own skin. I envision lazy Sunday mornings reading the paper and sipping hot tea in these fuzzy cashmere lounge pants I saw on Garnet Hill. Hello - Santa - are you listening?

My favorite source for cashmere sweaters is another Atlanta-based business,
Two Bees Cashmere. I own this tissue-weight tunic and love how it goes from day-to-night with only a switch of the shoes!

Another great option from the line are these cashmere ruffle wraps. I have the periwinkle color and get 1000's of compliments whenever I wear it.

I decided to ask Two Bee's owner/designer, Whitney O'Brien, for some insight to the world of cashmere:
* The finest cashmere in the world comes from Inner Mongolia. It is taken from the Mongolian mountain goats underbelly. The goats are not harmed as the cashmere is combed and shirred right before the natural shedding process.
* Cashmere is truly a year round fabric as it keeps you warm and cozy in the winter, but it's light enough to wear in the summer when the A/C is blasting.
* Fine cashmere can last forever - as long is it is cared for properly. While all manufactures have different care instructions, most items do best when hand washed with a special detergent (such as The Laundress Cashmere Wash) and placed flat to dry. On the rare occurrence of piling a simple sweater stone will help bring the fabric back to life!
If you want a historical account of the cashmere industry in Mongolia, check out Pur Cashmere's great write-up and video.

And, because we can never forget the "little people," check out the adorable stripped cashmere dress from
Bambeeno Cashmere...too precious!

Quite Simply - it's Purple

Have you ever seen a more perfect play on purple - this glamorous room in BHG features wonderful shades of lilac, aubergine, lavender....just call it purple! This room re-triggered my love of all things purple and I can't help but find whispers (or sometimes shouts) of it throughout my days.
I am dying for this wallpaper below in my dining room:
Or, a pair of these wonderful chairs covered in Madeline Weinrib fabric. YUM!

I also have the perfect place picked out to hang this beauty by Jules Cozine (found at Emily Amy Gallery).
House Beautiful always inspires me to change things up with it's focus on designers favorite paint colors. I think I may have to paint my bedroom wall in Pratt & Lambert's Grape Hyacinth, which reminds Peggy Van Allen of a foggy morning.

Speaking of Bedrooms - my hands-down favorite bedding (for the moment anyway) is Matouk's Delano in Orchid. Don't you agree?
I love Serena & Lily's whimsical Florentine in Heather for a young girl or teenager. This pattern can be made into sheet sets, duvets, pillow shams, etc. Options are endless....
And, Sferra does the most sophisticated take on purple in its Ella coverlet. Men even swoon over this piece as they don't realize it's "purple." The Ella collection has great pattern and texture and I have to admit I am really torn between the purple and the paprika.
Of course, my love for all things purple doesn't end in the home. I am drooling over this studded stunner by Marc Jacobs.
Perhaps more ultraviolet than purple, these rain boots by Cole Haan certainly fulfill my purple passion. Goodness knows we need our rain gear in Atlanta these days!
What color makes your heart skip a beat????
