Hi Everyone, I'm excited to welcome Sue from The Zhush today to tell us all about her ideas for creating a serene and sophisticated bedroom. For those of you who are not familiar with The Zhush you must pop over to check out Sue's great coverage of all things stylish! I especially love her "Monday Pops of Purple" and "Random Channel Items."
Hi Gramercy readers, I'm Sue from The Zhush, and I'm thrilled to be here today to share my ideas on what I think the most important aspects of the Master Bedroom are.
As a mother of three children, I need our bedroom to be a sanctuary, a quiet haven to escape to at the end of each hectic day.
I tend to have some very strong feelings about what is needed (or at least what we need) for our bedroom.
Here are my must have requirements:
A king size bed with a great headboard...if its upholstered and tricked out with nail heads...even better!
But no foot board...never!
Love symmetry, especially when it comes to the nightstands and the lamps or bedside sconces.
This bedroom is by Phoebe Howard...(Ms. Howard gets me!)
And no dust ruffle either...simple and tailored, please.
Speaking of simple, I'm all about the white bedding, maybe with just a simple "hotel style" border, but not much else...unless its monograms...I''m such a huge monogram fan, especially in the bedroom!
I like simple pillows...not a lot of throws and frou frou...I need to make that bed quickly, have it look neat, and get out the door.
This bedroom is by Sarah Richardson, (she gets me too!)
As much as I love the look of a hardwood floor, in the bedroom (and ours are in New York and Vermont...where the floors get real cold in the winter) I am all about the broadloom, wall to wall carpeting!
And, the T.V. too...but preferably, if you can think of a clever way to hide it, then hide it!
Finally, here is a shot of our bedroom in Vermont , where you can see all of my "must haves" applied!
Thanks so much for having me over today!
Thanks Sue for sharing your beautiful ideas and inspiration with us. Your bedroom looks like it came right out of a design magazine!!

Sue, your bedroom looks fabulous and I agree with you totally on your bedroom needs. Well, except for the bed skirt, I need one to hide my 3, 000 magazines!!
Sue did such a fabulous job! Adore her style! XX!
Agree with almost all your suggestions - like bluehydrangea, I don't mind a bedskirt, especially if it's tailored. Your ski condo bedroom looks fabulous and of course ADORE the Phoebe Howard!
Sue is a style maven! I love her ski condo... it's so much fun! xo
Your Vermont room is GorJUS!! I need little ottomans like that at the end of my bed! Sarah Richardson always gets me too!
Sue, love Mrs. H's gray walls but I think your bedroom is my fave!
Wonderful post!

Thank you Sue for sharing with us and thank you everyone for your wonderful comments!
Great post! Sue definitely mentioned all of the elements of a bedroom that are important to me. I agree that it must be a calm and serene space with symmetry and I love white linens with a touch of color or a monogram. I have a beige headboard with white linens and blue accents, and I love it!
style is great . Wallpaper looks amazing .Blue color is great it make me think at the sky in the Alps
A king size bed definitely agree! Wish they had an even bigger one. By the time I wake up I have only a little corner as everyone seems to end up in the bed. Kids and animals everywhere!
The first bed is my favorite bed that I've seen in a long time. Maybe ever...
