Between the Sheets with William Peace of Peace Design

So excited to reveal our second installation of BETWEEN THE SHEETS!
This beautiful display window, titled "As I Remember It," was created by the indelibly talented William Peace of Peace Design.  Luxurious linens and a gorgeous color palette certainly inspire - along with the amazing art by Doug Foltz (more on Doug tomorrow).

Be sure to scroll all the way down to read our interview with William Peace as he shares some of the elements he considers to create an inspiring bedroom.

Peace hand selected all of the linens for this bed - the designer also partnered with our friend down the street, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams for headboards and furniture.  You may remember a partnership between Peace and MGBW featured in Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles the past spring.

Interview with William Peace on topic of designing an inspiring Master Bedroom:

GRAMERCY:     What are your thoughts on color palettes for a bedroom? Do you prefer a serene space or a vibrant and colorful space?
PEACE:     I prefer a calm bedroom space with a tone on tone palette with interesting textures and art work and furnishings that are relaxing and subtle.

GRAMERCY:     Tell us about sheeting - are your a pattern person?  white or solid colors?
PEACE:      I always sleep best under crisp solid white sheets.

GRAMERCY:     Do you or don't you "duvet"?
PEACE:     Love duvets...all year with a light down insert, and a warm throw when there is a chill in the air.

GRAMERCY:     Who reigns in your bedroom?  The queen or the king?
PEACE:     I have always slept in a queen.  I prefer the scale and shape visually in a bedroom and I enjoy the intimacy of a queen.

GRAMERCY:     How do you like to top off your bed with shams and pillows?
PEACE:     I have standard and euro shams...I prefer the large scale, no small decorative pillows.  Shams are also great for propping up in the the bed and reading or doing a little email on the ipad!!

GRAMERCY:     Let's not skirt around the issue - what are your thoughts on be base of the bed?
PEACE:     I prefer a bedskirt that is tailored with simple corner pleats in subtle contrast to the other bedding.  My wife, Malissa, and I sleep in a queen that is a low modern design that does not allow for a bedskirt.

GRAMERCY:     Do you allow furry fritters on the bed?
PEACE:     Why not, our cat sleeps at the foot of the bed...among other places.

GRAMERCY:     Could you please shed some light on fixtures in the bedroom?
PEACE:     Depending on the space, a chandelier can add a human scale to a bedroom.  When designing a sleeping quarters I always feel bedside lamps are best for reading and adding a warm glow to a bedroom.

GRAMERCY:     Do you mix and match your bedside tables, or keep the style the same?
PEACE:     Our bed has built in low side tables.  I also like mixing a round with a rectangular table or desk to add a more casual and functional feeling to a bedroom.

GRAMERCY:     Do you mix and match your bedside tables, or keep the style the same?
PEACE:     Our bed has built in low side tables.  I also like mixing a round with a rectangular table or desk to add a more casual and functional feeling to a bedroom.

GRAMERCY:     How "zen" is your space?  Is a TV allowed in the room?  How about a desk?
PEACE:     There is a flat panel in our bedroom...I enjoy a little late night TV or watching one of our favorite movies in bed.  A bedroom can be a wonderful place for a small desk or writing table.  I can be a quiet and intimate place for light work or writing a note.

I feel a bedroom should be a place of escape and solitude.  A place to find comfort and an opportunity to recharge.  A space that is most intimate in your home and therefore your personal style and taste can shine through...the design should make you feel good.
Thank you so much for all of your thoughtful answers!  We are honored to have your beautiful design featured in our space - we know our customers will be completely inspired!!!
Tomorrow I'll be sharing more about the artist, Doug Foltz, as shown in the above photos.  Thursday I will share a high vs. low approach to getting a look inspired by Peace Design!
Until then, check out more on Peace Design's website (here) or facebook (here).

Palm Beach: Kelly Klein Style

Not a bad view.  Looking out from the kitchen to the water everyday would certainly inspire me to entertain at home all the time.  And, the kitchen isn't half bad:

You've probably seen this a few times on blogs and pinterest.  I know I just recently wrote about being tired of all white kitchens (here), but this one is certainly an exception.  However, I do have to have cabinets. I have a complete aversion to dust particles being anywhere near my dishes and glasses!

With a natural color palette of blues and greens from the outdoors, Klein is smart to keep the interior neutral.

A simply inspiring place to start and end your day!

A crazy kind of pool...I don't think I'd relax in this kind of pool out of fear of falling far, far below.
However, some of you more adventurous types might be game.

A Look Back - Lindsay Coral Harper

I was just cleaning out my magazines and came back across this image in the February 2012 issue of House Beautiful.  I just adore the chandelier with all the fun colors in the room.  It's playful yet sophisticated.  I had to revisit all the rooms by interior designer Lindsay Coral Haper.  I especially like that she has such a southern influences - no wonder I'm such a fan.

A couple more of my favorite rooms that were featured in the same issue.

Click here to read HB's interview with LCH and learn a bit more about her inspiration and tricks to balancing color in design.  For more of Lindsey's work, please visit her website.

Can't wait to see what she does next!

Color in the Kitchen

house of honey
Heck yeah!
Any of these will do.  I'm bored of all white and serene and craving color in the in the space that I most need creative inspiration!

Aesthetic Oiseau
I think I would just cook more interesting dishes if preparing meals in one of these spaces.
What do you think?  Can you do color in the kitchen?
